HYBA Mid-Autumn Festival Concert & Celebration: A Musical Journey Across Cultures

On September 19, HYBA hosted a family-friendly Mid-Autumn Festival Concert & Celebration. Featuring a diverse mix of traditional Chinese and contemporary instruments and musical styles, the concert took the audience on a journey across cultures.
Following the performance, families and community members enjoyed pitch-pot, lantern riddles, lantern making, fan painting, and mooncake sharing. Through music, culture, and hands-on activities, participants of all ages came together for a warm and memorable Mid-Autumn afternoon.
HYBA Summer Art Series · Part III: Nature-Inspired Chinese Painting Workshop

On August 1, the third installment of HYBA’s Summer Art Series invited participants to explore art inspired by nature. They painted colorful vases using traditional Chinese brush techniques, then added natural materials to create texture and dimension.
Each piece reflected the artist’s individual creativity while showing how traditional art can inspire self-expression and community connection.

On July 25, HYBA held the second workshop in its Summer Art Series, inviting children and families to experience traditional Chinese brush painting. Participants learned to use brushwork, color, and composition to bring cherries and banana leaves to life on paper.
Creating side by side, participants shared a summer afternoon filled with art, cultural exploration, and a meaningful sense of community.

HYBA Joins the UCSD CSSA Spring Festival Gala

On February 28, Sophia Hu, founder of HYBA, participated in the UCSD CSSA Spring Festival Gala, performing traditional Chinese music as part of a cultural ensemble celebrating the Lunar New Year. Through the performance, HYBA shared Chinese musical heritage with a diverse university audience, using traditional arts to promote cultural exchange and connect youth communities with broader public audiences.
HYBA Collaborates with Linda Vista Library on a Traditional Chinese Calligraphy Workshop for Youth

On February 21, HYBA hosted Writing Fu, a free Chinese calligraphy workshop for youth, in collaboration with Linda Vista Library and listed on the official library event calendar.The workshop introduced participants to the cultural meaning of the character “Fu” (福) in Chinese tradition and basic brush techniques. The program provided a hands-on cultural experience for youth and was open to the public at no cost.
HYBA Invited to Share Traditional Chinese Calligraphy Culture, 02/17, 2026 · San Diego, CA
On February 17, HYBA was invited to a local architecture school’s Lunar New Year celebration to share the cultural meaning of Fu (福) in Chinese tradition. A small benefit sale was also held, with proceeds supporting HYBA’s youth-led traditional arts programs.
